In Christchurch on Wednesday, New Zealand defeated Bangladesh by 48 runs
thanks to half-centuries from Glenn Phillips and Devon Conway, securing their
spot in the Twenty20 tri-series championship game. The final of a series that
serves as a warm-up for this month's T20 World Cup in Australia will be played
on Friday, also in Christchurch, with the hosts taking on Pakistan. New
Zealand put on another impressive batting performance after dismissing
Pakistan on Tuesday by nine wickets to set Bangladesh a daunting 209-run
target. Bangladesh lost, finishing on 160-7 despite captain Shakib Al Hasan's
valiant 70. Conway, the opening batsman for New Zealand, scored 64 runs off 40
balls. He shared a 45-run partnership with Finn Allen, who was dismissed for
32 after a brilliant catch by Yasir Ali.
